2008 LAM Agenda  (doc)

Each year the UVa School of Medicine sponsors the Leadership in Academic Medicine (LAM) Program as a means of developing, inspiring, and rewarding faculty who have demonstrated leadership characteristics and future potential within the School of Medicine.  Faculty are nominated for participation in the program. The yearly LAM Agenda begins with a reception and dinner with Arthur Garson, Jr., MD, MPH, Vice President and Dean of the School of Medicine at the UVa Darden Graduate School of Business Administration.

Participants are provided with a series of no less than ten all-day training sessions focusing on individual leadership development designed to enhance and nurture career potential.  Sessions focus on key professional development areas such as managing organizational change, making strategic decisions, assessing the dynamics of successful leaders, financial management, developing successful networks, and finding life balance in a dynamic and growing career.

Sessions are conducted over the course of several months and are facilitated by leading experts in healthcare, medicine, and business.  The agenda concludes with a networking reception which brings together the current year's LAM graduates and alumnus of previous years of the program.

Accreditation: The University of Virginia School of Medicine is accredited by the
ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
