School of Medicine's SSN Initiative
In this site is a collection of necessary documentation for the Social Security Number Remediation Initiative for the School of Medicine at the University of Virginia.
Deadline: July 1, 2008
By July 1, 2008 is the due date for complying with the Protection and Use of Social Security Numbers Policy.
HSCS Icon and scanning:
The Identity Finder Icon (their dog logo) has been placed on all HSCS-managed PCs. The scanning of all HSCS managed PC is on-going and when finalized, an email will be sent to the employee announcing that the scanned results have been placed in each employees "My Documents."

Identity Finder Software
Identity Finder software can be used to scan computer hard drives and other electronic storage media for SSN and credit card data. The University has purchased a bulk license for this product, providing free copies for University faculty and staff. For more information, see Identity Finder at UVa.

Identity Finder Update
** Health Systems Computing Services (HSCS) is working to download Identity Finder to each employee's desktop that is on the HSCS network. They will also scan your PC and related shared networks, and provide the results of the scan for each employee to review and remediate.
- The target date for completion is Friday, June 20, 2008.
